Perhaps we might get more adventurous as we get older?
It is strange that the common impulse is to contract as we age. To stop exploring. Stop taking risks. Stop beginning new skills.
We might fear loss. Or injury. The shame and humiliation of failure.
Yet to stay adventurous, to return again and again to the naive state, the beginners mind, the path into the unknown…to keep our mind stretched with new technology, new music, staying connected to the cultural edges of youth, this is where life and aliveness are found.
The moment we stop living the daring adventure we have relinquished our mind body being to entropy. This is to become old.
