Unity is plural, at minimum two

It is easy to fall into a singularity. To reduce everything to a point.

We long for simple. For neat little packages that can be understood by a six-year-old.

Long have I railed against this impulse. Often isolated in my stand.

We need to be able to explain things to children. Actual six-year-olds.

When we reduce adults who have operating intelligence to the language of a six-year-old we suddenly encounter the reduction of complexity into simplicity, stripping out all the nuance and context that enables incredible misunderstanding. In that misunderstanding, we get obtuse and often misguided responses.

There is a desire to bring everything back to a point. Like love. “Love is all we need.”

Or – ‘feelings are all that matter.’

For so long I was told by many to stop using my head and intellect. Those who know me know I feel very much. I am not one who cannot feel. Those who only use their intellect are as out of balance as those who only use their feelings.

Unity is plural, at minimum two. We need love and despair. We need to think and feel.

We need to honour the ability for people to understand the complex. To dignify them in their intelligence.

We also need to adapt our communication to honour the ability to understand. People cannot be until they are.

There is a difference between transmitting a call to action, and simplification. Interestingly a transmission includes both thinking and feeling, love and despair, rage and joy.

It is a transmission because nothing is left out.
