Organic, emergent design

Organic, emergent design

When we hold the space and shape for something to become, when the architecture is steeped in integrity, clarity and reverence for all life, the ecology held allows spontaneous, organic emergence, in Kairos time.

Nature has its own gestation. This is what beautiful, coherent emergence looks and feels like. The bud of a flower opening and turning to the sun. The child wobbling to her legs, steps imperative, yet arising spontaneously.

Not when we want it.

Our business-as-usual models refuse to partner with organic emergence. Humans doing that dominance thing again, imposing themselves and their desires onto everything, on their timeline.

Sigh.

So much effort. So much wasted energy.

Get the ecology right, design the conditions for flourishing, and emergence happens.

Just like that.

Silly us. This is life! And life is spontaneous, creative, chaotic, orderly, unpredictable, beautiful.

Fools are we to want life to tick tock like the machine. We reject when we are asked to behave machine-like because it violates the living inside us.

But we do it anyway to our world, crazy in the delusion of control.
