What is action?
There are also many ways to act against injustice and corruption.
We can write. We can teach. We can learn the patterns and mechanisms so as to be prepared.
We can call.
We can gather.
We can take to the streets and march.
We can go legal.
We can record.
If we can, we can vote.
We can coordinate.
We can design better.
We can lead.
We can think and strategise, then act, moving with deliberate timing.
We can listen to understand.
We can remain hopeful when creating as sense of hopelessness is the strategy of oppression.
We can refuse to allow the sense of being a victim to infect our agency.
We can refuse to conform.
We can love more fiercely. Be more integrous.
We can name.
When we sit on the sidelines and complain without any form of action, we capitulate to whining and whining never makes anything better, except for a short-term ‘feel good righteousness.’
Our ability to choose how we respond to what happens is always our agency and power. The moment we believe we have no choice in how we respond is the very moment we have lost and the powers acting over us have won. Viktor Frankl, Nelson Mandela and Gandhi taught us this, as have many others.
*In the Dare to Care workshop we go deep into the distinctions of choice and agency. If you register before February 5th you get 100$ saving on the full price.
