Know your distractions

In knowing our distractions we might possibly have sovereignty over them.

Sometimes we capitulate to their call, wilfully falling down the rabbit hole of their secret pleasure.

Other times we wake to ourselves hours later, wondering how we got so lost.

Years or decades can pass with foolish distractions wearing the mask of importance leading us astray.

Some distractions are worthy of our attention.

The call of a sunrise. Bird song. The request of our beloveds. That small voice from within tugging at our frayed edges, whispering for change.

Healthy distractions bring us alive, reminding us of all that matters most.
