Turnings

Today is the solstice.

In my part of the world, the winter solstice. The longest night.

In the global north, the longest day.

Wrapped in cold or smothered in heat.

The season’s turn, the cycles continue, with or without us.

The heavens create a ritual for us, captured in its cycles.

As we re-member our nature we might re-member the turnings, and honour them as the ultimate guide to ‘right’ time. Not our imposed time, as we humans are so often determined to dictate.

Rather the time that honours the larger cycles. This is to be one with, to commune with, to respect our nature.
